Outbreak Declaration at Perth Hall
April 8, 2021
We have been made aware of five positive cases of COVID-19 in Perth Hall over the past few days. The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has declared this an outbreak.
The University is collaborating with the MLHU on contact tracing and is supporting students who require quarantining. All positive cases are moved immediately outside of residence for isolation. If you are considered a close contact to one of the positive cases, the MLHU will be communicating with you directly.
Students in Perth Hall are still able to leave your room, access the dining hall, and utilize the front desk. Due to the provincial stay-at-home order, you should only leave the building for essential purposes (i.e. accessing health services, outdoor exercise, academic reasons).
We also want to assure you that students who test positive for COVID-19 do not face any negative repercussions or consequences.
If you were planning to move out, you can still do so. Information was shared earlier today regarding new protocols in place due to the provincial state of emergency and stay-at-home order. As a reminder, a COVID-19 test at the Western Testing Centre is available to all residence students prior to returning home.
Practise safety protocols
COVID-19 variants are fueling transmission in the region. Now is not the time to socialize with others. Use the 'buddy system' and significantly limit your contacts to only one other friend.
Practicing health and safety protocols that you have been doing all year — physically distancing from others, practicing good hand hygiene, and wearing three-layer face coverings — are effective methods to keep yourself safe.
Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. If you develop symptoms, please stay in your room and contact the Housing Leader on Call 24/7 at 519-495-3980.
