London in the Red Zone
February 17, 2021
We hope you have been able to take a break from your studies and are enjoying your reading week, whether you are already back in residence or still at home.
Starting February 16, London was moved into the Red Control level of the province’s COVID-19 response framework.
What does this mean for our students living in residence?
As we gradually reopen some of the amenities in residence, all students are expected to continue to follow all of the public health guidelines and safety protocols in our residence community.
- Our no-external-guest policy remains in effect. Only ONE guest from your own residence is allowed in your bedroom at one time.
- For students living in our suite-style residences (Alumni, London, Essex, Elgin), your common areas (kitchen, living room) can only be used by the students who live in your suite. Your one personal guest is only permitted in your private bedroom and should not be spending time or interacting with others in the common areas of the suite.
- All residence dining halls are now open, with seating areas limited to a maximum of 10 people. Please ensure you only sit at designated spots indicated by the green circles to physically distance from each other. You can also choose to take your food back to your room.
- All residence main lounges and workout rooms remain closed. Floor lounges, laundry rooms and music practice rooms are open, with capacity limits indicated on the door.
To find out more details on the health and safety protocols in your specific residence, bookmark this webpage outlining the expectations, access privileges, and closures in each building: housing.uwo.ca/protocols. As the pandemic evolves, and the provincial government and local health unit release new guidelines and protocols, this page will be continuously updated.
As we gradually rebuild the health of our residence community, we hope you will continue doing your part: wear a face covering, follow distancing guidelines, and wash or sanitize your hands regularly. Sometime soon we’ll be able to get together and enjoy the things we miss.
