Pause Social Circles and Limit Your Contacts

October 03, 2020

Yesterday morning, the Ontario government announced a tightening of public health measures, in response to the second wave of COVID-19. As part of the changes, the government is putting a pause on the concept of social circles.

What does this mean to you as a student in residence?

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has advised Western, that for students living in residence, limit your contacts as much as you can. Your entire floor is NOT the equivalent of your immediate household. Beyond a roommate, students should consider a maximum of one or two additional people to be part of your 'household'.

Behaviour that does not align with provincial health & safety guidelines could result in referrals to the Code of Student Conduct, and Residence Contract sanctions including probation, suspension, and being evicted from residence.

We ask you to follow the new public health guidelines, and wherever possible, remind your peers to do so. We will be sending a message in a few days with information for those planning to return home for Thanksgiving. We thank you for your continuous efforts in keeping our residence community healthy and safe.
