Update on Thanksgiving Weekend
October 07, 2020
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we hope your fall term has started off well and you’ve settled in with your new friends in residence. Whether you are planning to go home to visit your family or significant other, or staying in residence to prepare for your first midterms, we wanted to share some important information with you.
Dining Hall Hours
Due to significantly reduced numbers of students staying in residence over the long weekend, residence dining halls will operate with reduced hours leading up to the weekend. Ontario Hall will be the only dining hall open on Saturday and Sunday, and Monday until 4:30 p.m. All dining halls will resume regular hours starting Monday October 12 at 4:30 p.m. See below for details:
|Thurs. October 8:||All dining halls close at 9:00 p.m.|
|Fri. October 9:||All dining halls close at 7:30 p.m.|
|Sat-Sun, October 10–11:||Only Ontario Hall is open, 10:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
(all other dining halls closed)
|Mon. October 1:||Ontario Hall opens at 10:30 a.m.
All dining halls resume regular hours at 4:30 p.m.
While residence-to-residence access has been temporarily suspended due to health and safety, access to Ontario Hall will be allowed over the long weekend to accommodate students wishing to access the dining hall.
Travel and Self-Quarantine
It’s important that we not let our guards down and remain diligent in preventing the spread of COVID-19. The Middlesex-London Health Unit is discouraging non-essential travel to Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Peel Region. If you must travel, please use extra caution and adhere to gathering limits and safety practices. Limit contact to your immediate family.
Western is strongly discouraging travel outside of Canada. If you do travel abroad, upon your return, you will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days as dictated by the Federal Government’s Quarantine Act. If you are planning to leave Canada for the long weekend, please inform us at email@example.com.
If you have any questions or need any support during the weekend, feel free to reach out to our 24/7 front desk service.
Happy Thanksgiving. Stay safe.
