Where can I find support on Campus?

Mental Health and Wellness

Your Residence Front Desk: If you are student currently living in a Main Campus residence building and are in crisis, contact your residence front desk for response and support.

Residence Counselling: Professional, confidential counselling free of charge to all Western students living in a Main Campus residence.

Psychological Services: Professional, confidential psychological services free of charge to all Western students.

Wellness Education Centre: The Wellness Education Centre (WEC) connect students with health and wellness resources. They also design and promote interactive, educational wellness activities to help students become more proactive about their health and well-being.

Student Health Services: Medical, psychiatry and counselling services year-round. Services are accessed by appointment and require a valid provincial health card or UHIP for international students. 

Western Student Recreation Centre (WSRC): The WSRC is a great way to take advantage of a number of recreational activities, including: aerobics, aquatics, racquet sports, and more! You've already paid for a recreation membership in your student fees. Simply bring your Western ONECard and enjoy. 

Emergencies and Personal Safety

Emergency Services (Police, Ambulance or Fire): Call 911 for emergency services and notify your residence front desk in emergency situations. All emergency calls will be directed to the Campus Community Police Service who will activate the appropriate response, such as police, fire, ambulance, and/or the Student Emergency Response Team (SERT). Together, the residence Front Desk Staff and the Campus Police will ensure that emergency personnel are escorted to the right location. 

Campus Community Police Service (CCPS): CCPS is an active partner within all segments of the University and supports the safety and security of all individuals on campus. For non-emergency situations, call 519-661-3300 or visit uwo.ca/police.

Foot Patrol: Western Foot Patrol is a volunteer driven service that provides safe escorts, deters crime and promotes safety awareness on the main and affiliate college campuses. Volunteer teams provide safe escorts on the main and affiliate college campuses, including some off campus locations. Their teams will wait with you at bus stops, ensure you reach your car safely in campus parking lots, and escort you to your residence or any other building on campus. The Western Foot Patrol vehicle compliments their walking teams, and is used for long escorts and on high-volume evenings.

Alert WesternU: Powered by Everbridge, Alert WesternU is Western’s emergency mass notification system. It issues important safety messages in the event of a campus-wide emergency. Western will also engage the system to share class cancellations, and/or campus disruptions due to extreme weather without the use of the "Emergency Notification" heading. 

Academics and Learning

Residence Education Advisor (REA): Your REA can connect you to a multitude of academic resources, as well as share tips, tricks and personal experiences to help you navigate your courses.

Accessible Education: Meet with a counsellor to explore arrangements the University can make to accommodate your needs.

Writing Support Centre: Free one-to-one writing support sessions, writing seminars and drop-in services.

Learning Development & Success: Achieve your academic goals by gaining skills to learn and study more effectively.

Cultural and Transitional Support Services

Indigenous Student Centre: Offers culturally-relevant, wholistic and strength-based programs and services geared toward Indigenous students at Western.

International and Exchange Student Centre (IESC): A department of Western International, which offers a full range of programs and services to support international students during their stay at Western.

Employment and Leadership

Student Leadership in Residence: The support system in residence at Western is unlike any other. Become one of 500 student leaders who live here that strives to shape the residence experience.

Western Technology Services (WTS)

Western Technology Services is here to help you with your campus technology support needs. The WTS Helpdesk can help you activate your Western Identity (account and password) set up Duo MFA, and help you with the tools you use everyday, like OWL Brightspace and Office 365 (Email, OneDrive, Word). 

CyberSmart

CyberSmart offers Cybersecurity Awareness Training, resources, and support if you suspect that you have received a phishing email or are being targeted by a scam.
