Emergencies and Personal Safety

All emergency calls will be directed to the Campus Community Police Service who will activate the appropriate response, such as police, fire, ambulance, and/or the Student Emergency Response Team (SERT). Together, the residence Front Desk Staff and the Campus Police will ensure that emergency personnel are escorted to the right location.

Campus Community Police Service (CCPS): CCPS is an active partner within all segments of the University and supports the safety and security of all individuals on campus. For non-emergency situations, call 519-661-3300 or visit uwo.ca/police.

Foot Patrol: Western Foot Patrol is a volunteer driven service that provides safe escorts, deters crime and promotes safety awareness on the main and affiliate college campuses. Volunteer teams provide safe escorts on the main and affiliate college campuses, including some off campus locations. Their teams will wait with you at bus stops, ensure you reach your car safely in campus parking lots, and escort you to your residence or any other building on campus. The Western Foot Patrol vehicle compliments their walking teams, and is used for long escorts and on high-volume evenings.

Alert WesternU: Powered by Everbridge, Alert WesternU is Western’s emergency mass notification system. It issues important safety messages in the event of a campus-wide emergency. Western will also engage the system to share class cancellations, and/or campus disruptions due to extreme weather without the use of the "Emergency Notification" heading.
