What does the Connect-IT Support Staff do?

As a Connect-IT Support Staff member, you’ll provide friendly, hands-on technical assistance to students in residence. You’ll troubleshoot connectivity issues, help students connect their devices and assist with both wired and wireless internet services.

You’ll work directly with students over the phone and in their rooms, giving you the opportunity to develop your communication, problem-solving and technical skills. You’ll also receive training and ongoing support throughout your employment.

Who does Connect-IT Support?

Connect-IT supports students living in residence at main campus and Huron University College. 

What is the time commitment for a fall staff member?

The workload is heaviest at the beginning of the year and becomes lighter with more flexible hours after classes begin. 

During the two weeks leading up to the start of classes, team members should expect to work approximately 25–35 hour per week. Once classes begin, the commitment will be approximately 6–12 hours per week with accommodations available for academic responsibilities. 

By the end of September, the time commitment will decrease to approximately 3–6 hours a week.

When do positions begin?

The Technical Support role begins with training one week before move-in.

Is training paid?

Yes! Connect-IT provides a combination of online and in-person training beginning in August. You’ll receive the training and support you need to succeed in your role.

Does Connect-IT hire incoming first-year students out of high school?

Yes! Connect-IT is open to all full-time students, including incoming first-year students.
